Conference Outline:
As worldwide prices of copper, lead and other non-ferrous metals continue to rise, metal theft has become one of the most serious crimes blighting our communities.
It is estimated to be costing the British economy in excess of £800 million per year.
On their own admission, depsite increased resources targeting these acquisitive crimes, the police are failing to keep up with surging levels of metal theft.
This national forum provided a platform for all those involved in tackling these crimes to discuss the current issues and formulate a collaborative plan for the future.
The focus of the event was on greater collaborative working, increased intelligence and information sharing.
